HEAVY METAL LIVES! RIOT V Unleash Powerhouse 17th Album, 'Mean Streets'

NEW YORK, NY – Heavy metal legends Riot V have triumphantly returned with their 17th studio album, Mean Streets, released on May 10, 2024, via Atomic Fire Records. This highly anticipated release is the band’s first new material in six years, following 2018’s Armor of Light, and it serves as a powerful declaration that the spirit of Riot is alive and fiercer than ever.

Forging the Sound of the Streets

The creation of Mean Streets was a dedicated, multi-year process. With members geographically spread across the United States, the band invested considerable time in writing and recording to ensure the album honored their extensive legacy and met the high expectations of their global fanbase.

The production drew on seasoned expertise. Long-time collaborator Bruno Ravel (Danger Danger, Westworld), who also produced the band's comeback album Immortal Soul, was brought in to handle the crucial mixing stage in New Jersey. Ravel’s involvement was key to capturing the raw, powerful, and authentic Riot sound that fans demand. Mastering was completed by Bart Gabriel in Germany.

The striking artwork, created by Gyula Havancsák (Accept, Stratovarius), perfectly embodies the album's concept. It features the band’s beloved mascot, Mighty Tior (Johnny), reimagined as a tough biker gang leader, symbolizing the album’s "mean streets" theme and the band’s resilient attitude.

A Dynamic Blend of Speed and Melody

Mean Streets delivers 12 dynamic tracks that weave the band's New York City origins into a powerful sound that synthesizes their best eras. Listeners can expect a potent mix, blending the speed metal fury of classics like Thundersteel with the melodic, hard rock energy of their earlier work.

Key Tracks Include:

  • "Hail To The Warriors": The aggressive, high-energy opening anthem that immediately sets the pace.

  • "High Noon": A signature speed metal rager that strongly channels the band's revered Thundersteel era.

  • "Mean Streets": The centerpiece title track is a biographical tribute, celebrating the band’s decades-long history and its deep connection to New York City.

  • "Higher": An epic, soaring track that fully showcases vocalist Todd Michael Hall’s impressive range and emotive delivery.

  • "Open Road": A strong, accessible track built on a classic hard rock structure, making it a perfect road trip anthem.

 Upholding a Vital Legacy

More than just a new record, Mean Streets is a profound testament to the enduring legacy of the band originally founded by the late Mark Reale. The current lineup, operating as Riot V, proves they are essential and powerful torchbearers, successfully upholding the integrity and distinct sound that defines US heavy metal.

By referencing their iconic past while remaining a vital, contemporary force, Riot V ensures that the spirit of power, melody, and authenticity continues to thrive, solidifying their status not just as veterans, but as crucial contributors to the heavy metal genre for a new generation.
