Sandy Slavin is an American veteran drummer best known for being the rhythmic backbone of the heavy metal band Riot during their early 1980s commercial and critical peak.

Career with Riot (1979–1984)

Slavin joined Riot in the summer of 1979, replacing Peter Bitelli, and was instrumental in shaping the band's sound during their most influential period.

He provided the powerful, driving rhythm on Riot's most acclaimed albums:

Fire Down Under (1981): This album is widely considered a landmark of early American heavy metal and established the classic lineup featuring Slavin, Mark Reale, Rick Ventura, Guy Speranza (vocals), and Kip Leming (bass).

Restless Breed (1982): Featured new vocalist Rhett Forrester.

Riot Live (EP, 1982)

Born in America (1983): This was the last studio album by the lineup featuring Slavin, Leming, and Ventura.

Slavin remained with the band until the lineup dissolved around 1984. He was also briefly involved in an attempt to resurrect the band alongside Mark Reale and Rhett Forrester in 1986.
